Sanjay Dubri National Park is located in the northeastern part of Madhya Pradesh, India, in the Sidhi and Shahdol districts. Established in 1975, it covers an area of approximately 466.657 square kilometers and spans a total region of 1650 square kilometers. The park comprises two primary areas: Sanjay National Park and Dubri Wildlife Sanctuary. This park plays a crucial role as a wildlife corridor facilitating the movement of wildlife between Bandhavgarh in Madhya Pradesh and Palamau Tiger Reserve in Chhattisgarh, including the passage of wild elephants from nearby Chhattisgarh to Bandhavgarh.

The sanctuary is renowned for its white tiger population, saved by the former Maharaja Raja Martand Singh of Rewa. Its southern boundary abuts Guru Ghasidas National Park, which was originally a part of this tiger reserve before Chhattisgarh’s formation in 2000.
Due to favorable environmental conditions, the tiger population in Sanjay Tiger Reserve Dubri has been consistently increasing.
Sanjay Tiger Reserve falls within the tribal region of Kusumi. In addition to leopards and bears, the area is home to various wildlife species, with tigers being particularly famous. The white tiger is associated with Mohan’s birthplace in this reserve, attracting tourists from afar who wish to catch a glimpse of these elusive roaming tigers.

In 2008, it was officially declared a tiger reserve, covering approximately 831 square kilometers. The reserve’s name is derived from two significant rivers, the Sanjay and Dubari rivers. Situated in the stunning Vindhya mountain range, this reserve is well-known for its incredible biodiversity and dedicated efforts to conserve endangered tiger species.
Sanjay Dubari Tiger Reserve features a unique and diverse ecological system. The primary vegetation in the reserve consists of tropical deciduous forests, dominated by species such as sal, teak, and bamboo. The reserve is home to over 70 tree species, 50 species of mammals, and 250 species of birds, making it one of the significant tiger reserves in India.
